Beatrice Pucci is a stop-motion animated film director, sculptor, and designer. Multifaceted in her use of various media, she has developed her artistic practice through experimentation with the languages of animated cinema.
Her short films Soil is Alive and Le nozze di Pollicino, both produced using puppet animation, were among the finalists for the Silver Ribbons (Nastri d’Argento). Her latest work, Dove il sasso cadrà, won the Best Short Film Award in the Professional category at the Catchthemoon festival and received a special mention in the Children’s Short Film Competition at the Imaginaria 2022 festival.
In 2018, the 54th Mostra Internazionale del Nuovo Cinema in Pesaro dedicated a retrospective to her work within the section Corti in Mostra – Animatori italiani oggi (‘Shorts on Show – Italian Animators Today’).
Her animations have been featured in numerous national and international festivals, including the out-of-competition section of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in 2016.
For the cinema, she created an animated sequence for Alina Marazzi’s film All About You, which won the Best Director Award at the 8th Rome Film Fest. She has also created music videos, commercials, and projects for cultural festivals.
In recent years, she has developed a project on popular fairytales, freely inspired by Italo Calvino’s Italian Folktales. She is currently engaged in artistic research on the dynamic relationship between sound and image.
Her sculptures and drawings have been exhibited both in Italy and abroad.
